Well, it is a 1933. I hope you see the 33 K it is probably worth!

Yea.. Funny how that works out! Maybe Allen will let me restore all of the trim on his car with a bit if a discount.. <grin>
The buyer is a guy in California who just really wanted the car. There were several other people who offered $25K during the auction, none of which bid on the car. Guess that tells you who's serious and who isn't.
Looks like the '33 will be getting a fresh paint job, also.

It closed and the shocking thing is that ANOTHER dual sidemounted, nice unrestored Comm 8 popped up that was so similar that at 1st I thought it was the same car, but this one is a '34 & may be BIN for 21K
Early 30's cars in such nice original are so rare to find, especially Commanders & Presidents, that I would have not expected to see another one pop up, but it is a great opportunity for those who missed out on the '33 to take another shot! I got good $$ for my '34 Dictator in '08 and it was in no where near this cond.Last edited by TX Rebel; 10-23-2011, 07:39 PM.

That car just ended and was relisted. It ended about 2 hours before the '33.Originally posted by TX Rebel View PostIt closed at $25,100; and the shocking thing is that ANOTHER dual sidemounted, nice unrestored Comm 8 popped up that was so similar that at 1st I thought it was the same car, but this one is a '34 & may be BIN for 21K

The '33's owner and I were both in agreement that the '33 was just a better looking car. Seems that most people agree.

There was a very nice '33 at the san diego zone meet that looked alot like the one on ebay...not quite as clean especially the interior, but it was nice and all original and unmolested. Cool for a newb like me to get to see it in person.

I saw the photos. That's a '33 President Speedway belonging to Frank Wenzel. A very beautiful car.Originally posted by kmac530 View PostThere was a very nice '33 at the san diego zone meet that looked alot like the one on ebay...not quite as clean especially the interior, but it was nice and all original and unmolested. The Studebaker world is a small one. My friend that just sold this Commander, purchased the car from Frank. The only reason Frank sold it was because he found that President.

Small world.
Being so new I am pretty clueless on prewar stuff. I can get pretty close on the year based on certain typical styling cues but am lost on exact models. Post war stuff I am getting years and models down better but still have a long way to go on alot of models.
I sure appreciate the education I am getting here on SDC. Warren Webb has been very helpful and Bob Roscomaccaw gave me alot of ID cues and I appreciate it.Last edited by kmac530; 10-24-2011, 07:36 AM.
