  • Let's play "How high will it go?"

I just listed the '33 Commander survivor and watched it shoot up to nearly $10K within a couple of hours. I think the bidding will probably stall now until it gets closer to the end.

What's your guess as to how high it will go? See who gets the closest to the final bid without going over. The winner gets some sort of Studebaker prize that's yet to be determined.

I'll take a very uneducated guess at $19,600....

It's hard to believe the same company built both that stately car and the silly, bulbous little Larks...

I could not be more clueless, but I'll throw out $26,520.

Aww shucks, no video of the car running or driving?
That's a great looking car, looks like a museum piece for sure. Looks like a very special and valuable car but I'll keep my guess low at $18,651.

I wish true value made sense in the marketplace.
Surviving in this condition after seventy-eight years and, SUCH A REALLY LOVELY CAR!
Rather than venturing a guess and holding my breath, perhaps it would be better to spend my efforts spreading the word on the vehicle's availability to those I think might have an interest but rarely, if ever, turn their attention to online auctions.

Today I was on the phone with SDC Prez Tom Curtis. I asked him if he knew of anyone who might have an interest in the car. He says "Sure, try Frank Wenzel."

Well, Frank is the one that sold the car to Matt so that he could make room for his new '33 President.

The Studebaker world is a small one. Maybe with the advent of eBay, our world can gain another member.

Clarification: are we going closest without going over OR straight closest?

                        $21,965.22 what the heck.

mbstude: While I dislike ebay for a few reasons, it also has opened alot of opportunities for people that need something hard to find. For every irritating thing there I also find something cool that I know I would not likely see anywhere else. Case in point, I got my Stude on ebay and that has turned me on to alot of new stuff and a great education here.... converserly, I bought my Stude on ebay and YOU all got stuck with me. Like that Yin&Yang thing.

Well, I'm disqualifying myself on this one as I've driven the car and spent some time going over it. But I'll still put in my guess. $31,933.

I don't think the market is that good right now. $14,950.00
There have been a lot of nice Studebakers go over the ebay block this year. And most are not even coming close to the reserve.
