Building was incorporated into El Fandango, I think, by the time I was working at Caltrans, in the building which isn't there anymore. But the big thing I notice about this pic is how important it was, when I was a kid, to identify to tourists as "Spanish" instead of "Mexican". Well, that, and the oversized pre-'56 license plate. There's whole lot of my childhood wrapped up in this pic. Thaks for posting.

John, glad it brought back some memories. San Diego was a great place when we were kids 😊

            • It looks like one of the quaint places we like to patronize.

Apologies if this is a duplicate - I've seen it before but didn't find it here.

Those were the days when people could be trusted about 125 Ft. away from the Cashier, to Pay as they leave.

                • Save $.05 a gallon. How much was gas in the 40's? I can remember when gas road tax here in Ontario (Canada) took a gallon up to $.35 in the early 60's Tax then was half the cost of a gallon. . I was pumping gas and washing cars then. You could not get $5.00 in a Cadillac that was empty!

I can tell you that gas in the 50's was 17.9 a gallon and the Hancock station I worked at from 8 till 10 AM on Saturday was 8 gallons for a dollar.

I suspect there could be a fifth one - over the top right of the M-series cab - looks like another R-series with a big white rear bumper.

I see the fifth one and agree. Good catch!

                • Not too sure if this one counts! (Santa at Wanamakers, 1924)

I guess the little girl in front was looking forward to a Studebaker goat wagon . . .

                • This Studebaker 2R5 pickup is seen at work outside Zappi's Pizza & Pasta, 6663 Stanley St., Niagara Falls, Ontario. The photo was taken by Roger Albert of Moncton, New Brunswick, who commented that the truck needs "lots of work". He says this is an excellent restaurant. Click image for larger version
