              If this were in California that could have been my grandfather. He commuted from Whittier, just east of Los Angeles, to China Lake Naval Weapons Station in his '50 Land Cruiser every week during my childhood, to maintain both his marriage and the air conditioning equipment at the desert installation. To the best of my knowledge it never let him down. When he died in 1970 my father sold the car for $150. I was fourteen at the time and didn't talk to the old man again until I moved out to join the Navy.

          • Can't find a Stude but couldn't pass up the chance to showcase a real world Packard Station Sedan - 22nd Series I think, but don't quote me.

            • Ref. post 12052 that mentioned the Packard woody. The California Automobile Museum, Sacramento, California, has a late 40s Packard woody on display in a special display of woodies for the next couple months.
