  • Wow, was starting to be afraid that my Nov. 1 post had "killed" this great thread.
    Thanks for proving me wrong!

    • One of my car buddies posted this photo showing a Hawk and a 1956 Lincoln Premiere in the background. The cars in the foreground appear to be 1935-37 Auburn boat-tail speedsters. I wonder if the photo is from a 1950's Auburn meet in Auburn, IN. The two ladies are nicely dressed, hats, pearls, and all.

EDIT: I received word from Wray Schelin that the photo was taken in 1957 of his grandmother on the right and her sister on the left at the ACD meet in Auburn, IN.

        • No. 10293 - That is a very nice pickup to restore. I wonder what that bracket at the front end of the box is for. At first, I thought spare, but there is no hole in the part that extends out.

I couldn't copy and enlarge the picture like I wanted, but my guess was that that bracket was used to pull a trailer off to one side for hay or such. Lots of possibilities for a ranch vehicle.

            1952 Commander 2 door. Really fine 259.

Entirely possible, Howard, since these are in Montana. Here's a link to the whole article:

                  • A couple from Seattle; the first from C.1950-Northgate Shopping center. The second is Pioneer Square area C. 1967, before the Hotel in the background was razed. (Click twice to enlarge).

Does the uniform look like it is from 1938?

Not with a 50 star flag on the fender. Has to be later than 1960.

Pretty spiffy patrol car otherwise. Maybe it was bought for the chief.

                        • Good catch, Jim. Didn't think the woman (?) in the background was dressed in late 30s-early 40s style.

Looks like a 56 Sky Hawk. Pretty rare even then.
