While the angle of the photo may influence the appearance between the perception of these cars, remember that the Lark's greatest achievement (in my opinion of course) was that it was cleverly designated a "compact" by lopping off some exterior length, and marketed as a "compact"... but the cockpit pretty much remained full size of the era sedans. I have a retired four door 1960 Lark, now in peaceful quiet repose deep in my man cave. Back when I drove it regularly, almost everyone who ever rode with me, commented how surprised they were with how roomy it was inside!

It was something I took for granted for years. But, in hindsight, probably one of the best marketing ploys ever pulled off by Studebaker.

Yes, the body of a Lark was full size for a 1953 sedan that it was derived from. It was still narrow and tall compared to a 1961 Desoto.

I only remember the five passenger (Starlight) coupes being referred to as "double enders".

Could that Champ be equipped with the genuine 'Conestoga' truck topper option?

Looking at the similarly equipped Dodge parked right beside it, they appear to be both company fleet trucks, perhaps doing maintenance on the hotel.

(That's what my mum told me & it's true!)

This parking area looks like you could enter/exit either way.
I too, normally back into a parking spot, unless I plan on loading something into the trunk, like when I go grocery shopping.

                          • & I thought (& still think) it looks as the cars are parked against a sidewalk & on the right it's a building...
But I reckon we're just alike for the rest then.

On second look, I believe that you are correct about most pulling up to the curb (sidewalk).
