That's the Engineering Building, Joe; Building #92. It was the final home of the SASCO parts before Ed Reynolds bought them and the building was demolished. Straight ahead in the photo is the Final Assembly Building, the destination of those bodies. BP

I agree too Joe. Am I the only one that remembers pretty much the same vehicles photographed from a different angle??? The same unknown (to me) pickup parked near that flagpole was in the other picture.

Another thing that caught my attention in this pic. The flatbed rig. It must be just for "on sight" transporting only. Unless there is something broken, I couldn't imagine taking a trailer with such tiny clearance between the rails on the bed and tires without serious potential for contact between them. I know all the cars are attached to assembly carrier dollies, but surely they are not all that heavy.

Yes, those trucks just ran a shuttle carrying body carriers between buildings. The next year(?) an overhead conveyor belt was constructed that eliminated the truck shuttle. The irony was that the conveyor belt was not available during the high production years when they needed it most, but was finally installed just when sales started to fall.

They sure didn't get their Return On Investment on that one: http://forum.studebakerdriversclub.c...light=conveyor

Studebaker only got 11 years use of it.

At least they did not go through the windshield?

                        • #9535 is interesting.

Filling the tank in both pics, & I don't think the Valve Top Oil display is against the station wall in the longer distance pic.

Also, the car seems kinda dirty for advertising pictures.

Although hard to see, the window clock in the distance pic looks like 3:20 vs the close up at 3:05
