That's an interesting photo, Dave. Note how the pattern of the fallen snow makes the Stude look like a convertible with the top up. BP

'Just noticed another curiosity, Dave; the name GORMAN high in the sky over the far building.

Do you have any idea where this photo was taken? I say that because there was a big Studebaker dealer in Oak Park IL named Gorman Studebaker. I was there with my Dad in the winter of 1958/1959 when he traded the family's 1953 DeSoto Firedome for a nice, late-model 1957 Commander DeLuxe 4-door; Turquoise and Arctic White.

This does not look like that building from the front, but I am wondering if this was a view from a side street and we are looking at a view of part of Gorman Studebaker that was not the front elevation. I do not remember the names or nature of any businesses in the immediate area.

While Dad was negotiating the '57 Commander, I was looking over the new 1959 Larks in Gorman's big showroom. I'll bet it held ten cars or so, a large Studebaker dealership, for sure. BP

According to the Facebook post I borrowed it from, "On old Rte 99 just south of Bakersfield, near "The Grapevine". Now Interstate 5 runs through there."
