Yes, these campers are cooking on the engine of the Studebaker. Supposedly the cooking pots were some kind of Studebaker option for cooking on the exhaust manifold.

Munsey Park is on Long Island, near Manhasset. If we use that nearly-new 56 Chevy and the black plates on the Studebaker as a guide, the picture was taken in 1957.
