It is so cool to see there are enough of these old rigs still on the road that one could get caught in a random photograph like that.
Pretty sure that is Vince Deguc. He drives it around Beaverton fairly regularly. I sent him the link.

    • 7750 --- Sure hope there were no passengers! Think how much worse this would have been in a Ford Model A, where the railing would have gone through the fuel tank.

This photo was posted here not too long ago, where I stated it would still be able to run if it was a Franklin.

            • Post 7758 is a picture of the arrest of Charles Starkweather. in Nebraska. He went on a killing spree in 1957-8. One of his last victims was the owner of a 1956 Packard Patrician which he and Carol Fugate stole after he killed the Wards and their maid. They later tried to ditch the Packard and shot a sleeping salesman in a Buick. Starkweather could not get the Buick going when a Wyoming trooper came on the scene. Fugate escaped and Starkweather got in the Packard and took off leading the troopers on a chase in the Packard at speeds over 100mph. A shot in the back window caused injury to Starkweather and he surrendered. He was executed in 1959. Fugate was paroled in 1976.

                • Here is a picture of the Packard to go with the rest of the story

The stolen Packard in which Starkweather and Fugate fled Nebraska. Starkweather later led law enforcement on a 100-mph chase through downtown Douglas, Wyo. Flying glass from a bullet-shattered rear window slightly injured him and, out of ammunition, he stopped and soon surrendered. Casper College Western History Center.
