Corson’s name was picked from amidst more than 30,000 registrations at the Area Industrial Exposition another Progress festival event. Drewrys donated the car. Corson said his wife, Dorothy, won $100 Friday in a slogan contest at the bank. They have a son, Greg 6.
Drewrys beer was a local beer in South Bend. Was bought out by one of the larger brewery's in the 70's. The building is still in use as a multi tenant, located at Portage and Elwood Ave's north of down town.

Bottom photo:"I'll buy them all!" (SDC time traveler...) Note the service truck behind the grey '51, it even has a cool Studebaker sign on the bed.

Where DID you find this one?
In Pic #1 That MAY be a very young Sammy the "lot man" who did the Dealership Cleaning, Car cleanup, Wash, Wax etc. with the Coke in hand.

The Salesman in Pic #2 showing the '51 4 Door is the Sales Manager Mr. Heisler.

Since this was taken in 1958 I see a White '58 Hardtop against the Showroom Wall and to it's Left in Frank Afton's private Parking spot, in the far rear of the Pic #1 is the driver's window & Windshield of the Black '58 President Sedan that Frank ordered for his personal Driver for a few Months in '58.
Right next to the President is the Showroom Double Doors that the Cars were driven into the Showroom through.

That very '58 President I later in 1969, found on a lot on Melrose Ave. in Hollywood and is in my Garage right now! Frank always drove Black "Y" Body Cars whenever possible.

In the background of Pic #2 is the wash Rack under the Carport where Sammy worked a good part of the Day, and the Wing to it's Right is the Wheel Alignment Shop, to it's right would be the Body and Paint Shop out of the Picture.

AWESOME, Awesome, awesome! These are the ONLY Pics I have of the Dealership Dad was a New Car Salesman at, in Inglewood, Calif. from '55 to '62, let alone my Car when it was NEW!

It looks (to me) like a newly installed sidewalk, and the road is under construction to add more lanes. You have to remember that, shortly after WWII, all across the nation, there was a tremendous movement to improve roads across the entire nation.

If you will click on the small photos as posted by Brad, the pics will enlarge and show the scene in better detail. (thanks Brad)

                        • What John said in Post #6986. It's more of an optical illusion than anything. It does appear elevated, but methinks the camera angle and grade are tricking the viewer. BP

The late Merlyn and Pat Culligan of Woodstock, New Brunswick, Canada were participating in a very rainy multi-day tour with the New Brunswick Antique Auto Club in 1970 when these photos were taken. The car is a 1927 Studebaker duplex phaeton. The location is a campground at Fort Lawrence, Nova Scotia, Canada.

The car now belongs to a relative of Pat's, who is aware of SDC and the Atlantic Canada Chapter, but has never joined.

The pictures were taken by the late Hubert Atkinson. They are owned and copyright by the N.B. Antique Auto Club Inc. and used with permission.
