I think most of us have heard that the the Russians were so impressed with the Studebaker trucks they got through Lend-Lease that the word Studebaker was often substituted for their word for truck. A few years ago while on a mission trip repairing homes in the hollows of West Virginia, a young man in his Searly 20's from Russia rode with me delivering building materials to various work sites. I asked him about the word Studebaker and he said that even then older folks sometimes used it for truck. He didn't realize where the word originated. Naturally I filled him in on that count.Originally posted by dleroux View Post#6627 I had a Russian mechanic show me vintage film of Studebakers that were tested in Russia during WWII and it looked very much like this.
