What are the vertical lines on the horse? Possibly artifacts, I can't tell.

Perhaps lightly weighted strings to keep flies off?
Rather like those Australian hats that use corks for that purpose.

It must have been Fred MacMurray's. He had the reputation as the cheap...I mean most thrifty man in Hollywood.

I thought all trucks were made in South Bend.
