A funny Don Rasmussen story...they had been Studebaker dealers in the 50s but for 1958 saw a great opportunity to quit Studebaker and become Portland's one and only exclusive Edsel dealer. Maybe they were smug about that in 1958 but even by 1959 Edsel sales were declining. And Studebaker had the new Lark! Obviously they had no more Edsels to sell after early 1960 and they got their Studebaker franchise back.

          • Junk Yard video; huge place.

This was on Hagerty's Barn Find Hunter site today. They go fast around this enormous place, but if you freeze frame right at 3:44, you'll see two '55 Studes, a '58 Wagon, and a '64 Daytona hardtop:

Lots of other Studes about, but you gotta look carefully. BP

            • That's right where they speed up the film. I spied the station wagon and then had to back the video up 3 times to stop at the right spot. The Flanders speedster is another interesting Stude related car.

Is there a 4th of July in Canada?

                • No, If you look at a typical Canadian calendar you will see that it skips July 4th....from the 3rd to the 5th, no 4th up there.

Jerry Turner has had that Flanders listed on craigslist recently, although I don't see it currently.

We jump the gun, by holding a few days earlier on July 1st.

                        • I have seen pictures of these Studebaker trucks at the World's Fair, but they were all black and white. This is the only color picture like this I have seen.

                          • Looks colorized to me...and indeed...look at stamp on the bottom right. That gal does really great work.
(noticed the red bleeding on to the bottom right of the blue field on the flag)

(Followed by at least ten characters' worth of pointless drivel required to get the post up on the bulletin board. Sorry... I'm more of a visual kind of guy and can never come up with those witty captions the rest of you love so much. It's just a picture of a Studebaker I would like to share. Cheers!)
