There was a Donahue Motors in Albany, Oregon up to about 1961. Then the area franchise was taken over by Courtesy Motors in Corvallis, Oregon - about 10 miles away. I worked part-time for Courtesy around 1966-67 when I was a college student at Oregon State.

Donahue Motors was on 2nd street in Albany Oregon. Just Googled the address and it looks like the building still exists. It is now a Spa. Other then some paint the building has not changed much.

Assuming that was 1960 (maybe earlier), $.29 then is $2.33 today...

Regular gas (unbranded) today here was $2.04. You'd probably have to go back to the early 50's to see the price per gallon we are experiencing today.

          • When I worked for Signal Oil in 1958, the price of regular was $ .23.9 and on Sat. for 2 hrs between 8 and 10 we sold it for 8 gal. for a dollar. Plus we gave stamps. By the look of the cars, the newest being a 56, there was no gas war going on. I remember the Chevron Station down the street was $ .32.9 for regular.

                          • Joe; That is definitely not a Studebaker (#5022) but not sure what it is.

Isn't that a green Studebaker truck at the far left side of the photo?
