  • 'Don't think so on a Mercury, Bill. I just checked those years. 1952 does not have a body-length stainless piece, period.

    1953 and 1954 have one (1954 shown):

but it is still lower than on that mystery car. BP

    • I thought maybe it was a Checker but that doesn't look quite right either.

      • I'm wondering the same thing, speaking of the far right "could that be a early c,k behind the shortbed truck ?"

We all see the '56 Power or Flight Hawk on the lower street.

But look on the upper level, on the far side of the overpass: What is the odd white 4-door car with black RR tire and no wheel cover, immediately outside the 1956 Ford station wagon, headed in the same direction as the Ford?

Strange; 'can't figure it out. BP

        • That 'mystery car' doesn't appear to have a side molding; that 'stripe' down the side is actually higher than taillight level! Like, maybe decoration for a taxi or something.

The cars it reminds me most of, from what can be seen, again is a lowline '52-'54 era Merc, or a lowline '55 Plymouth.

          Here's a '52 Merc:

I'm going mostly on the shape of the rear door and rear wheel opening.

John, I agree that's the closest yet, but I still think the stainless-steel bodyside molding on the subject car is higher than that of the Plymouth.

              Weird, as I said.

I was actually thinking 1954 Willys 4-door, but the subject car just looks bigger overall than the Willys. BP

              • Isn't that a '56 Studebaker sedan on the street that the '52 or '53 Cadillac sedan is fixing to turn on and therefore would be following directly behind?

                I think the Cadillac is a '53.

                    • Yes that could have been the 100E, but the late ones carried the Anglia badge, and some the "Prefect" badge. It was the front grills and the rear light cluster that differentiated them. The prefect had 2 smallround lights and a round reflector, the Anglia had 2 triangular lights with square reflectors. My Uncle Ernie had a green Anglia, then a Beige Popular, which always made me car sick.
The Anglias which you describe were the "modern" and last to carry the Anglia name. The earlier 30's style, made in the late 40's and early 50's were badged the Anglia and the Popular. Known as the Ford Pop or the "Sit up and beg Ford" At the same time they produced larger passenger cars called the Consul and the Zephyr. They both shared the same body shape. In the 60's the Cortina showed up in late 62 and the Corsair in 63 (my Dad had one). Hope this helps. Paul

Anyone know where New Richmond is?
I was reading something this afternoon and saw an=emtion of a town by that name in Wisconsin...
(In case nobody else has responded to this) It's in the far western part of the state, closer to the "Twin Cities" (Minneapolis/St Paul) than anything else. I live about 5 miles east of NR.

Is that a Valiant or a Lancer wagon in front of the Lark ? Always thought they both were - -uh- -unique ? (but of course wanted one to put a 440 and torqueflight in, Ha ! )

Behind what looks like a'57 Ford lies a '52 Studebaker.
