I can count at least 9 Coupes in that Pic in Post #4926, including the 2 that hit each other.
They must have been very popular in that area in the late 1940's!

The Tow Truck was one of the Newest out there, maybe a brand New 1949 Chevy.

The Stude. is the '47-'49 Champion Starlight? It's almost hidden by the Hudson and has another Stude. next to it barely visible.

I was at the 2015 Newport Indiana Antique Auto Hill Climb two weeks ago and snapped a photo of this Studebaker-chassis School Bus:



The Body is from Carpenter School Bus bodies here in Mitchell IN:



But inside the cab, high above the center windshield support, was this selling dealer logo:

Ahh, the Arroyo Parkway, the West Coast's first freeway. Originally evnvisioned as a pleasant, curving drive following a seasonal river from Pasadena to Downtown Los Angeles. That median was eventually replaced with Armmco barrier and now has a poured concrete barrier for most of its length. Originally, the speed limit was only 25mph. Like anybody ever heeded that.

Wow! Post 4916 is a page right out of my youth. I had a white 60 hawk back in 1966 that made many trips to Zimmies Diner in Mifflintown Pa. after High School games and weekends. Reds Diner in Lewistown Pa was another popular hangout and cruising the traffic circle trying to pickup girls in Lewistown was another ritual we had to do when we went to town.
