    • "The new underpass at City Park Avenue and Pontchartrain Boulevard was one of many "grade separations" built to reroute railroad traffic into the new Union Passenger Terminal. Designed to break up bottlenecks caused by passing trains, today, intersections like these, prone to flooding in heavy rains, present new problems to motorists. In 1953, however, they were a source of pride and a sign of progress."

      • The three pictures in post #4889 from Perth, Ontario are dated 1948, but the "New Studebakers" are 1947 models.

          I get those years mixed up and was afraid there might be a contradiction.

            Main subtle differences between the 47,48,49 cars is with the grille changes. Reference the Cannon/Fox " Studebaker: The Complete Story"book page 213

                          • He Gary, My stepfather mined coal in a small town called Bayne which isn't far from Black Diamond. The town was run by Jim Bolde and his wife. My stepfather's name was Walt Urness and his brother, Charlie, had the Studebaker dealership in The Dalles, Oregon. They switched to Chrysler in 1965.
