              Actually, no.

In the smaller picture, the base below the tower is round, the larger picture it is octagonal. Also, the fenestration is different. Simon's had several locations in Los Angeles and the one in the smaller picture was at Wilshie and Faifax. It would have been torn down a few years after the picture was taken, replaced by the iconic 50's diner, Johnies.

Thank you very much for the link. It was most interesting. I also see (a little bit late) that the letters SIMONS are different.
I know there is no Studebaker, but this image is so gorgeous I felt obliged to post it.

                      • Christophe, thanks for that Kodachrome picture of Simons!

Sadly, now that we have colour in all forms of media, we have become colour adverse in our cars, fashion etc. I posit that this may be a contributing reason that the vintage car hobby still has some pull, even cars in the 60's had more vibrant colours than those of today, not to mention the multi tone pastels popular in the 50's.

You're welcome, Ken. I totally agree with you. All these new cars mostly in metallic gray with black interior are totally depressing. One of the reasons that made me bought my Hawk is that the upholstery is white and that changes evreything. By the way, I went to Google Maps to see the corner of Wilshire and Fairfax, Johnie's is still there but seem to be closed now.
                          Nice day to all.

                          • I hope nobody has already posted this picture. When I came across it on the H.A.M.B. a comment with it was that this was taken in Kannapolis, North Carolina.

Sorry folks for the duplication.Interesting that one place labeled it Kannapolis and the other Concord, but then they are only 8 miles apart.
