I stumbled across these pictures of Sidney, Nebraska. The race cars were sponsored by Crosby Motor Company, the local Studebaker dealer. Note that only one of the cars is a Studebaker. However the Ford is being towed by a new '52 Studebaker. This car was given to the driver Gale "Curly" Doggett. He was evidently a driver of note in western Nebraska. This is supposed to be a 1938-40 Studebaker that was sponsored by Crosby Motors. The man standing there is not Curly Doggett.
Below is the '52 Studebaker towing Curly's race car. I am not sure which person is Curly.
Here is Sidney, Nebraska complete with a Lark in the foreground.
