        Looking at the flatter roof, and thicker chrome at the base of the rear window, I would say 1958.

            Owner was concerned it didn't leak, so he was squirting oil on the frame to satisfy another customer!

              It may well be staged, it came from a section Life photos if I remember correctly and was entitled something about a teenage mechanic. It was taken in 1954. There were several other pictures of teenagers doing other stuff. I guess it was trying to show teenagers in a positive light.

                                My father still owns his first Studebaker - a '53 Starlight at the cheapest level - nocture blue and probably originally equipped with black walls - might have looked like this one.
