      • #3061 - might also be a 57/58 sedan - furthest car in upper left

        • 5 cars to the left of the dark colored Lark mentioned, there is a light colored Lark as well. I also think there is a '56, '57 or '58 two tone Studebaker all the way to the left side of the photo near the top kind of sitting by itself.

Some of us drove Studebakers exclusively as our ONLY transportation . Until I sold my Avanti a few years ago .....I still did!
It used to be the Studebaker DRIVERS Club.

            • I think I saw also a 55 Conestoga between two 56 Buicks on the left side of the third row. In the same row, is the car between the 49 Buick and the 59 Chevy a custom job? It makes me think of an Henry J but seems to be considerably bigger.

                • I count at least five Studebakers in the LaCrosse WI campus photo in this Hemmings Daily Blog item.

                  Can anybody see any more?

                    • May 30, 1955 Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Two of the cars parked along the outside of the track on the backstretch having been contacted by Bill Vukovich's car.

                        • Commentary on #3070: Note the information on the sideboard of the Ford pickup.

It says "....Williams Jr. Inc. Mercury," with a phone number that would have been Melrose 4-3363. Obviously, that was a downtown Indianapolis Lincoln-Mercury dealer.

Note the location of that dealership given on the sideboard: Ninth at Meridian. Charlie Stuart Studebaker was also located on another corner of Ninth at Meridian; the northeast corner. Charlie Stuart Studebaker would also have had a telephone number with the downtown Melrose prefix.

I don't know which of the other three corners of Ninth & Meridian housed the Williams Lincoln-Mercury dealership, because it was gone by the time I got to know the downtown Indianapolis automobile dealers when we moved here in 1962. That's when I first visited Charlie Stuart Studebaker. It became Studebaker of Indianapolis, a factory-operated store, when Charlie Stuart decided he was making enough money at Charlie Stuart Oldsmobile seven blocks north at 16th & Meridian, that he could quit being bothered with Studebakers.
