        • You sure that's a pre war pic? According to "Studebaker Cars" by Jim Moloney, the hood front emblem looks like the type that was only used on 1946 Champion Skyways.

          If this is the case, the gal is smiling because the Allies have won the war, new cars are available again, gas and meat are no longer rationed.

                • #2498 has to be in the south or west, Joe. The 1959 Ford wagon across the street documents the Studebaker being at least ten years old...and it wouldn't look nearly that good in a rust-belt climate! BP

                    Looks to be a BC plate....it has a mountain range in blue at its top.

                          I wonder, Bob; could it be a Colorado plate? IIRC, Colorado also had mountain ranges on the tops of their plates.

                          Also, note the Champa Bar signage at the top of one building. There is a Champa Bar in Denver; I checked:
