Hi All..
Just a question for my information..
Please don't think I am criticizing this really neat car but asking..
Is there a general consensus about single stage paints vs two stage? I know the 2 stage stuff really shines etc. but is that considered true to the origional car?
Again, Not a criticizm just a question for when I paint one of mine..

Ron; I doubt that you will find any consensus on that point. The type of paint used today is actually better that the original as are some (though not all) reproduction parts. Original paint on the '39s was enamel. I am not sure how far one would have to go to restore a car that is "true to original." Would that mean that they would all have to use all original parts and upholstery and the owner could not add or subtract anything from the way it left the assembly line? I hope the SDC never comes to that. In any event I never have a car judged so it is not a real important issue to me.
I have owned this car twice and restored it twice. We first met in 1962 (soon to be 50 years!) and she has never been out of my life since even tough she had another lover for quite a while. The only change made during this revival was the addition of the stainless rocker panel mouldings as I thought it needed a little more brightwork against the black paint. They were available on all Deluxe models or could be ordered separately. It also has a radio and clock.
Yes I considered flames and even toyed with black body and yellow fenders but the guy at the body shop balked. Maybe on the third restoration.Richard Quinn

The car looks great, Mr. Q. Looks like the paint shop did an exceptional job and it'll fit in nicely with the other cars in your garage.
Which one are you driving to Springfield? Personally I'd love to see your '31 up close with my own eyes..
