Jackb I would be interested in those springs where u located?

In that first picture with the original 6, is that an a/c compressor mount on the side? If so, I would be interested in the mount, the fan pulley, and the crank pulley.

It is a A/C mount installed at sears in about 1973 I will be letting those parts and any others of the six go I do need to find out what kind of bracket the 289 needs for the compressor if it cant use that one. For that set up it didnt use the fan pully just a extra bolt on crank pully unless u need the fan pully for another reason?

Well, maybe I'll just get the a/c bracket and the crank pulley. How much do you want for them, including shipping to Iowa?

Are you going to use the old throttle linkage, if not could you post a picture of it . I will be installing a OHV 6 in an earlier model pickup and would be interested buying it possibly.
              Thanks

That is a sweet deal you got on that motor. I remember seeing a Craig's list ad from Louisiana from a guy selling a GT Hawk 289 so he could put in a Chevy motor that would run AC. Were you the lucky dog that got that one? Enjoying your postings, I eventually will be doing something similar with my Conestoga, not exactly the same but still similar enough to be of interest. Thanks for sharing.

If you want to get rid of the old column shift nub on the shift collar, here's what I did. I cut off the nub on a spare that I have and filled the hole with JB weld and finished with body filler. You can also use the nub as a tach mount

Oh, any bites on the old six? Not that I need another one but lets keep it from the scrapper

Well guys not much progress engine wise got all the brakes rebuilt. Did some measuring and the driveshaft barley fits so I'm going to shorten it 2 inches tommorow and will post a write up on that tommorow if there is an intrst in that process.
One thing I did forget to mention was that the front frame mounts for the six were wrong for the v-8. They were to far forward so I got the transmission mountedand verified that was the referance point for all other things to line up. There is a relief in the driverside exhaust manifold to clear the steering arm that is alignment point #2. With this done the engine is posistioned properly now for the frame mount delema that almost ruined my day at this point. after a lot of plans tobuild frame mounts that would work we unbolted the front frame mounts and the solution presented itself swap the mountsside for side. Using the original frame holes 1 mount hole lines up checked the for prper level against the original position marked the second hole drilled and perfect fron mount alignment. Heres some pictures of the mounts installed you can see the original holes we didn't use and the marks on the frame from the orignal locations. Hope the wasnt todrawn out an explination lol
