Actually, for the record its a 1x2, but yes, at the time of the photo
the gas struts were shot. Since then they have been replaced. Funny
though, my 93 still has the original factory. I think they redesigned
those things in the early 90s to last longer. I remember in the 80s
they were expensive and failed quickly. Now they are cheap and last a
long time. When I did my reverse open hood on the 60 Hawk, I used the
"clicker" type like the Avanti and rear hatch glass on the Lark Wagon.
I didnt want to deal with failing struts. Now, if I did it again, I
would use the gas struts.

Reason I asked is because I have had awful luck getting gas struts to stay gas charged.. Your prop rod looked so....nature like
