Craig - Other than the raised arm rest, I don't see the difference in the seats pictured. Please elaborate.

        1. Number of pleats in the seating areas

        2. Top of front seatback more rounded on 'production' version.

Well, I just got back from a awesome Studebaker chapter event, but that is a story on it's own.

During it though, I met a former Studebaker employee, by the name of Bill. He was a tech writer in the Engineering department during the '50s, and he REMEMBERS THE CAR!!!!!

He remembers Husvar, and he was indeed a interior engineer. (Says he was a good guy to!) He can't remember all the details of the car, but the ones I gave him, he remembered it; and it sounds like it is indeed the prototype Golden Hawk 400! Yahoo! And, if you see in the pictures I posted of the car, it doesn't have a '57 hood on it. He couldn't remember exactly what it had, but it wasn't the '57 G.H hood. So, it may be exactly how it left the factory, not counting condition!

BTW, I'm am so going to make a list of questions and such to ask this guy, he is pretty cool!

If they are the same as a Packard Hawk interior, then just the seating surfaces are leather. As well as the robe rails (straps on the backs of the seat backs). Also the tops of the arm rests ( just the tops).
                Everything else is vinyl.

Dylan, the hood on the car is a replacement , the person we got the cars from is the son of a collector, now deceased, he had very many studes. the hood from the 400 was used on another car , the hood on there now will not close because it is not correct. The research done several years ago does indicate it was a prototype, keep up the work and I hope you end up with the car.Allen

                    Thanks for the info!

From what I understood, the research ended at a dead end awhile back. That's what I was told anyways, who knows!

Interesting! Thanks for telling me about the hood. I wonder what Bill remembers on it then, maybe it was changed out at the factory. And as for getting the car; I sure hope so!

Dylan, I have a 57 GH here in the Bay area that needs to be restored, came with power seat and power windows, super charger is still with the car, engine has been changed to full flow and is locked up but I do have a 57 GH numbered block and working on getting a full engine if the owner will get off her duff and put a price on it, if you or any one is interested in it e-mail me and we can talk, I will be at the Cam AM meet in Sept. and could bring it north if sold....Bob

I appreciate the offer Mr.Peterson, but I can't afford a G.H at the moment. I got to keep saving for college. And, I think I want to try and hold out for a chance at this one. Even if it is more work, it would be pretty sweet to have a one of one G.H; IF I get a chance at one.

                        Thanks again for the offer!

With a great thanks to Mr.Quinn, the "Ann Husvar" on the production order is officially cleared up! It is indeed a typo, it is supposed to say "Attn Husvar". I think this solidifies the theory even more honestly. Next step will to talk to Mr.Schiffer more, and show him pictures of the car. Since he remembers the car, that might very well be the confirming evidence.

they did come with power windows and power seats. I am not sure if it was just the 10 show cars

I do not know what you are replying to. My own 1957 Golden Hawk, not a 400, was built with power windows and power seat (singular). They were regular options on all 1957 Hawks.
