Iced in here and bored. Reading through some old magazines. Aug 1960 issue of CARS has a total of 3 articles relating to Studebakers. One about Champ pickups, one about Studebaker fleet sales, and one about a Champ toting around an amphibious camper. The fleet sales article is an absolutely glowing account of how well received the Lark was to taxi and rental companies. I wish there was some way to reprint this article so everyone of you could read it. One thing the fleet customers appreciated was the fact that the rear fenders on Lark Economilers were "unboltable" for ease of replacement. They also cited much lower costs of operation and higher rates of reliability. The guy who tested the Champ predicted great accptance by the buying public.[)]

Cars magazine really liked Studebakers. I think they gave the 60 Lark "Best Buy" of all cars that year. I have that issue but it is packed away somewhere. Studebaker did have some limited success with the taxi trade. Here are some post cards with Studebaker taxis in them.

Those cards are great Leonard! Then you had to spoil it with your weather report<g>. It was 17 here in Amarillo today[)]

That's ok, we got up to a balmy 35 degrees today. My water tank froze around the edges. This was a problem as the outlet is on the bottom outside edge. I remember this happening to my parents when I was a child. They fixed the problem by building a fire on the outlet pipe. Their tank was galvanized steel. Mine's plastic, so building a fire probably would'nt be helpful.

Thanks for sharing the cards, Leonard. The Omaha Depot looks a lot like the Sacramento Greyhound depot, just nicer.
