The 15x6.5" Ford wheels I had with the stock wheel covers had 4.25" backspacing (215-70-15 tires) and fit like the car came stock with them.

The 17x 7.5" Mustang wheels I now have have a 5.625 backspacing on the rear, lots of clearance, I'm thinking of adding 1" spacers just to move it closer to the fender. I have a 1" spacer in front so the backspace is 4.625". The only interference Issue I had was due to the diameter. The rim would just barely contact the upper king pin pivot zerk fitting. I replaced them with a plug to solve it. I just swap the plug for a zerk to grease it then put the plug back when done.

The last time these Wheel Covers were discussed here, someone spotted the slight difference between these and the Similar ones that Studebaker Ordered as an Option for 1962,
If they don't HAVE to be exact, and you like them, go for it !

I would choose the Rocket Wheels or American Racing "Jelly Bean" Wheels as a Lower Cost alternative to the Real Deal Halibrand Types.

I got mine from TireRack maybe a year ago, with tires (Continental True Contact Tours), mounted, balanced, lug nuts, and bearing caps for $1,194.58 shipped. Wheels: American Racing Torque Thrust IIs, Front 16x7 with 4" backspacing. Rear: 17x8 with 5.48" backspacing. Tires: Front 215x60x16, Rear 235x60x17.
I have always loved these wheels. The IIs show a little more spoke and a little less rim that originals, and come in more sizes. In particular, the 5.48" rear backspacing is absolutely necessary to fit in fenders. No one else that I found has off the shelf wheels with that much, and only the 17x8s came with that much. These are also about the lightest weight wheels available from anyone at most any cost.
I cross referenced the Tire Rack site with the American Racing site to get all the info I wanted. And I think AM orders these in batches, so they may be typically out of stock, but they let me know when I could expect them.
At the time I was just outa hernia surgery, so my 6' tall firefighter grand daughter did the work for me!
So I got exactly what I wanted, but didn't have a choice!
