A friend just got his 1951 Kaiser back from the restorer. He is having problems with DMV in Fresno. They won't let him use his plate. They say he has to have two plates. He says in 1951 they only issued one plate to conserve steel after the war. Help me comfirm this so that we can get this plate on his Kaiser. For Stude content look at all the Studes in the background peeking. Wow what a beautiful piece of workmanship.

I've also seen several states not allow restored (repainted) plates. If they require 2 plates, have one of those plastic custom license plate places make a second one and put it on the back inside one of those license plate protector covers... who would know the difference?

here's a source for a set '51 plates for your friend if he stil wants to put 51 plates on the car

                    California Clear YOM Plates

                    www.davesclp.com email davesclp@aol.com

I have bought several restored DMV CLEAR sets from Dave
he's a class guy - fair price- good quailty and he gurantees the plates clear for like 40 days

                    I paid $500 for a set of 1951 CA Plates (I understand 51's are now going for $800 a set !)

he will be at Turlock vending

Man, I may be way off, but I'd shop Ebay and have someone restore what you buy. I'd pay $500 for a matching pair of Yukon or Northwest Territories plates (in any condition), but youy can do better than $500. License plates are like baseball cards. Dodgers cards are worth a lot more in LA than they are in Cleveland. California plates will be cheaper at a show outside the state lines.
