They are special bolts. They are thru bolts that have special heads that stop aginst a raised ridge on the crank. They go thru from the engine side and use special locking nuts on the flexplate. The threads are 3/8-24 not sure of legnth, but there are long for standard flywheel and short for flexplate.

Try Stude parts venders for supply.

That is true, but you did say flexplate bolts, not torque converter bolts.

3/8" coarse thread, 1/2" long grade 8 (9/16" head) also use flat washers under the head, and use red Loctite thread locker.(I looked...I was wrong, they're fine thread)

I am not sure what the Purpose is of the "Original Special" Flex Plate to Torque Converter Screws were, but they were 3/8" as Bez said, but had oversize Heads 5/8" with radial Serrations on the Top of the heads, which must have had something to do with Locking.

Anyone have a picture of those screws. They sound like place head screws. If you have one also take a picture under the head.

Don't the radial lines indicate Grade 8?

The lines on the head of a bolt generally indicate their grade. Three marks indicate grade 5. Six marks indicate a grade 8 bolt.

However, Studebaker and other makes of the era did have several specialized bolts.

No, these are NOT "Lines", these are fairly Deep Grooves a bit "V" shaped, VERY Special (Locking?) Screws.

They are: G9409145 (3/8" -24 X 1/2") 6 Required. You could not find these anywhere now, unless a few are at some Studebaker Vendors.

Well if you have Original G9409145 Screws, why did you not mention the shape of the special heads which is the current question?
The wrench size does not matter.
