Nice find! It must have spent all its time next to the ocean, looking at the base of the windshield.

Looks like it might have been the tow vehicle behind some sunbird's motorhome.

How did you manage to snag it ahead of George Debono?

Isn’t that a “trailer toter” front end?

The 96” BBC (“snub nose”) option was designed to be able to carry a longer trailer. A shorter truck meant being able to tow a longer trailer without going over the total length limit.

But, there were a fair amount of those 96” BBC trucks built with different wheelbases. Most were probably road tractors, but there are some long wheelbase haulers out there too.

Craig’s Big Bertha, for example. It rides on a 196” wheelbase, if I remember correctly.

I don't believe ANY of the Trailer Toters where Studebaker factory built; rather purpose adapted by Whatoff Motors in Aimes, Iowa. And were not necessarily Diesels.

He’s in Northern California.. And BIG TIME into big Studebaker trucks. He has several dozen, at least. He’s been on a “buying spree” for decades.

There is a YES and NO answer to that.

No, not all the Toters modified by Whatoff in Iowa. The trucks were sold to Whatoff and then modified up until 1963. Starting in 1963, the factory started cataloging a 1-1/2 ton Toter, using the 8E28AX designation for gas engines, and 8E35AX for Diesels. Even though they were offered by Studebaker, the conversion was actually performed by Bock in Mishawaka.

What does "BBC" stand for? The only auto related acronym I can think of is "Big Block Chevy", but that's obviously not it.
                            Whirling dervish of misinformation.

Yeah right, then if you come upon a Rough Road you can just dump some Asphalt on it and fix it!
