I'm trying to find out my 63r1705 interior. Specifically the kick panel area. Most of the original orange and black carpet is gone. I have some of it that is still very nice. What I wondering is there a kick panel or was carpet just glued over the area. I can see just the metal grille for the vent. Nothing is covering the surrounding area now. What should be there.

There are separate pieces for that area. The upper part is vinyl and the lower is carpet. The inner portion surrounding the vent hole is mounted on paper board stock and the outer is glued to the fibreglass body inner panel. A chrome strip is mounted as a separator between vinyl and carpet and is screwed to the body panel at either end to retain the kick panel board stock. The chrome strip forms a long ended "S" to conform to the body panel surface.

There is also a vertical metal piece that the kick panel butts against. It is painted black and is right by the door opening. It also helps hold the black windlace welting.Bez Auto Alchemy

This is the best I can do for now. The 1st picture is of the board stock foundation to which the vinyl/carpet covering is glued. Note the adjustment noted on the masking tape. The 2nd shows the chrome stip that covers the division between vinyl and carpet.
I can't find the NOS '64 coverings that I had - must have sold them. Maybe someone else can post a photo of the '63 installed appearance.
Make the foundation to suit your specific car dimensionally.

I definitely do not have those kick panel boards. But I do have the chrome trim laying around. I didn't know what they went to.1 Family owned 63 Studebaker Avanti 63r-1705 White with Orange interior , R2 4 speed.
