  • Brakes: Hand Brake front cable clip

Hi: Does anyone know what the clip looks like that fastens the end of front cable to the underside of the floor? The Service manual doesn't show this section of the front cable. Thanks

I believe it is a 1/4 bolt with a J hook bend in it

I used a standard 1/4" "U" bolt and cut one of the threaded sides off. Looked exactly like the factory clamp that broke upon dismantling.

Thanks guys: I had a feeling it looked like that. The PO left it out when he replaced the the floor.

I believe there should also be a tiny plate with two holes in it to keep the "j"bolt from spinning.

When I rebuilt my parking brake on my 1962 GT Hawk, the J-bolt location in the floor had two holes perpendicular to the length of the car with no plate. The short end of the J-bolt went into one of the floor holes to prevent spinning. Is there supposed to be a small plate as well? Where would it go, inside the car or outside? The photo attached is looking towards the front of the car and the sheet metal screw is for the gas pedal. Click image for larger version
