Was out in shop, object change headlight switch. All wires hooked up, checked operation ok, insert thru dash GRRRR!! Retaining bezel will not thread all the way down, problem in threads on # 1544272 switch. Any way to fix or is this a problem the vendor needs to replace part? Car is a 62 Hawk GT. Thanks for your input. Lou Cote [V]

The first thing you need to determine is:
(1) Are the THREADS really bummed up?
(2) Or, did you just run out of threads?
(3) If so, add a washer the same size as the Nut, under the nut.
Or if too many threads came through the hole causing the smooth un-threaded part to protrude then put the washer BEHIND the dash.

Some switches have a hex nut behind the bezel, that is used behind the dash to accomplish adjustment, so that your problem won't happen. If one is missing, talk to someone at a FLAPS.

The bezel will thread down to the end of the old switch. On the new switch bezel will only thread about 1/2 way down the threaded section, no damage to threads must be a manufacturing defect. I will return to vender. Lou Cote
