  • Shocks: shocks and steering wheel questions

Can anyone tell me the size of the shocks on a 56 Golden Hawk and the proper way to remove the steering wheel also. Thanks for all replies.

The shocks, I don't have off the top of my head right now. For the wheel you will need to do 2 things. Get a small Harbor Freight puller and some 1/4" fine threaded bolts, you may have to grind a little in the crotch of the puller to get the bolts close enough to fit. Then make a little plug to fit in the end of the steering column. Disconnect the ground cable from the battery, shove the wire coming up through the center of the shaft down just far enough that you don't pinch it between the plug and the shaft while pulling.
