  • Fuel System: 2 1/4" fuel filler hose

    Hello All:
I haven't posted in awhile, but I read all the time.
I'm not happy with the exhaust system on "HemiS2D". Because the fuel tank is offset to the drivers side of my 53 Commander I couldn't tuck the 2 1/2" dual exhaust up close to the frame. I've decided to move the fuel tank over to the middle of the car. It should be very simple, but the stock fuel filler hose will be too short. I've looked all over the web and have not found a source for 2 1/4" filler hose. Can anyone lead me in the right direction?
    Thanks,
    Dave Davis

I think a 24713 Gates hose will do what you need

See Filler Neck Supply for 2-1/4" i.d hose for fuel tanks. Not cheap at $2.05 per INCH! But, you CAN buy it and it will take modern fuel.

Thanks Flashback. Being a CASO I don't want to spend $30-$90 for a 3-6' section.
I'm looking for a 10-12" section that maybe came stock on a Studebaker.

Why not use some of the straight hose available from any parts supplier and clamp it to a piece of 2-1/4 exhaust bent where you need the fit?

Wouldn't the simpler option be to use 2 1/4 or 2 Inch Tailpipes?

You could use 2 1/2 Inch Head and Front Exhaust Pipes with the smaller Tail Pipes as all Studebakers were.

Did a Factory Hemi ever come with larger than 2 Inch Tailpipes?

my tailpipes are 2.5", and tuck up pretty close to the tank and frame on the driver's side. I don't have access to my photos on this computer...if you want too see some pic's, let me know and I can post when I'm at home. cheers, Junior.

I am pretty sure Chrysler Engineering would not have used a Pipe size that would not get the most out of their High Performance Engines, so getting on the "More is Better" Train will not prove a thing, or improve a thing!
