  • thermostat spacer

    on 1960 lark 6 cyl how does the items go in stat housing. i have a repair manual but does not show picture and no stat was in car. i am talking about the stat spacer and round seal ring. thanks for any info

    I'm not sure if I remember correctly, but I think the spacer goes into the opening then the stat goes on top of that. (At any rate, you need the spacer.) Then hook up the hose.

      The 194660 gasket goes inside with the 196709 spacer and the Thermostat. I think the small gasket goes into the housing first and fits in the ridge in it, then the spacer, then the Thermostat, then the large 194658 gasket.

      It's all on Pg.112, Cooling Section of the S.I. Catalog, or in the 1959-1964 Stude. Chassis Parts Catalog. I don't know how anyone can own a Stude. and not have at least one of the above, in this day and age of "useless Auto Parts Stores"

        i have both books but neither shows a picture of assembly only a picture of all parts but i quess i am to dumb to see it as i am a dumb kentucky hillybilly. with some of the replies i see on this forum i am begginning to think i need another kind of auto.
