  • 4 bolt mount dual master cylinder replacement

Hi everyone, I've been looking at the posts and have looked at a couple newer master cylinders both seemed to have 2 bolt setups. Is there one that is is a 4 bolt mount with the brakelines toward the engine? The car is a 63 Lark 6 with 4 wheel drums.
    Thanks,
    Bob

I'm not sure on a 4 bolt but I took my two bolt off and took it to Napa and they had pictures that we could compare with. I found the application on this site from another person. Two bolt two chamber for my '63 Cruiser was for a 1972 AMC Ambassidor Napa # 4736237. Hope this helps.

Be carefull there guys with these "INTERCHAGES" using newer master cylinders! [}]

The AMC ones do fit and work BUT... two things to watch for:

NUMBER 1, the push rod length! Studebaker Power & manual single, and Dual are ALL way different! You cannot use the single on a dual!

NUMBER 2, you want to make sure there is a residual valve inside for drum brakes! If it's for an AMC with Disc. it may be missing!

BRAKES are not something you GUESS on, just be safe OK?

It has the Studebaker non-power dual master cylinder. The AMC with 4 wheel drum should work..no?

So true...just because you can find an MC to "bolt up" doesn't mean it will work worth a hoot. The master cylinder, brake cylinders, shoe and drum sizes, proportioning valve, check valves, pedal geometry, all have to be designed to work together. Change only one thing (like master cylinder bore) and you'll most likely have brakes that will not work as good as stock, and may be dangerous.

4 bolt M/C is a mid 70's Chrysler, with a 1 inch bore. be sure that you adjust the push rod between the pedal and M/C as it will need it.

I put the AMC one on my Cruiser and the brakes work as well as they did with the original MC when it was working right.
