A couple of other things of note to us today about replacement engines from the Sept. 1963 version of the '59-'64 Chassis Parts Catalog.

    (1) Way back in Sept. '63 when this was printed there already were no '60 to '61 partial flow "289" Short Blocks left.
    There were no late '62 259 or 289 Full Flow short block engines left, "Use 1557005 '64V 259 or 1557006 '64V 289".

This reinforces what I said back in Post #10 about pretty much only late production Full Flows being left.

    (2) A Studebaker "Short Block did not have an Oil Pan, Heads etc. according to the picture, but I would trust this list more:

The V8 "Short Block" consisted of:

    Block
    Pistons
    Rings
    Connecting Rods
    Crankshaft
    Camshaft
    All Brgs. (Cam, Rod Main)
    Timing Gears and Cover
    Oil Pressure Valve
    Oil Pan
    Pan Filler Block
    Valve Lifter Cover
Fuel Pump Eccentric and Flywheel or Converter Bolts
(add: I am sure they also did have Steel Core Plugs.)

    (3) There were no "Long Blocks" (Complete Engines), the only ones I know of were leftover from the Assy. Line after production ceased.

    (4) The Jet Thrust Section only lists a Block and Pistons for '63-'64V R1 and R2 and the same in a "Short Block".
