Is this a relay to control the overdrive? What is the adjustment/setting for the rod that connects the pivot arm to the carburetor? Tried 20 minutes to upload a photo!!! I followed all the instructions to make sure my profile settings were correct!?!?

If it connects to the carburetor linkage, it's probably the overdrive kickdown switch (but a picture will really clarify it when you can post one).Howard - Los Angeles chapter SDC

Howard, it does connect to the carb linkage. A long sleeve turns on a threaded shaft which lengthens or shortens the rod connecting the carb linkage to the pivot arm which would activate the pushbutton on the switch. [ I can't seem to get the photo to upload. After the pic info shows after "browse" is clicked, the word "upload" does not highlight allowing me to click on it to proceed.] I believe we are referring to the same thing. I just need to know the length of the rod as the pivot arm is touching the pushbutton and where the throttle position should be at that time.

It is all clearly explained in the Shop Manual how to set the clearance between the Throttle lever stop on the Throttle Bellcrank by adjusting the stretch Rod you are talking about, it is designed on O.D. Cars to be able to go beyond wide open throttle to kick the O.D. down from O.D. to Direct Gear.StudeRich

I finally found where I read that Tim. It's on Pg. 48 Transmission - Flight-O-Matic.
Setting up the Carb. Rod is the Prep for the Automatic Trans. Throttle Pressure Adjustment. In some year manuals I have seen them reference the Fuel Section to do that first, them go into adjusting the Throttle Pressure in Trans. Section.
Setting the Carb. Rod correctly also sets your Pedal Height correctly.StudeRich

I can't find anything on how to adjust the kickdown either. Does it kickdown at all (either too early or too late)? Is the fuse on the overdrive harness good? Power to the fuse? I would suggest checking those components first. Group 1 in the shop manual gives you a guide on how to diagnose problems.59 Lark wagon, now V-8, H.D. auto!
