Shell, Chevron and Mobil now produce a synthetic heavy duty engine oil which has a viscosity of 5W-40 that has around 1200 ppm of zinc. It is however about $7.00 per gallon more expensive than the conventional 15W-40. I haven't tried it in my engines yet, but I'm thinking about it when my conventional 15w-40 stash is gone. I'm going to give the technical representatives at a couple of the oil companies a call to inqiure about using the new oils in Studebaker engines to be sure it will be good for older engines. I'll post what I hear. Bud

I've been using Brad Penn in my cars. Flat head Ford, MG, Caddy, and Avanti. The bottle states, increased levels of zinc provide enhanced anti-wear/anti-scuffing protection for engines employing either flat tappet or roller type cams. My cars take straight weight or multi weight. It's about $60 a case.
