  • 1950 Champion Clock & Lighter ID

I am asking if someone will send me a photo of a 1950 Champion clock and also of a cigarette lighter. Are they hard to install ? I would be grateful. Also, The sun visor on the outside of the car, where can I find one ?? Thanks. Tom LaMartina, Lynchburg, VA

    Tom,

We may be able to help you. You might try sending Perk Walls (stewed) up in Louisa a private message off the forum as he has a '50 Champion. I am also sure that someone has sales literature that might help you they would be willing to share.

In terms of a visor, I would check e-Bay for a Fulton or similar style visor. I see them listed quite often. If you are ever in need of hooking up with a Studebaker group, I belong to both the Central Virginia and Greater Virginia Chapters.

Here is a picture of the 1950 Champion dash with the clock.

Perk Walls Champion is a 51 which has a different dash.

Finding an original AC-2198 visor will be tough. In addition to searching for Fultons, you could check here. These sites claim modern production.

            How about a 'Drawmatic' lighter?

FYI about the visor. I talked to an old Stude mechanic who claims that adding a visor cuts 3-4 mpg off the fuel economy on a Champion. As far as I know, sunglasses don't affect mileage significantly.[8D]

I wish I had one of those clocks for my 1950 Champion. Anyone want to send me one?

I see this started over a month ago. I missed it then. If it will still help I can take a photo of a clock in and out of a '50 champion tomorrow.

Also, a follow club member had a sun visor by Studebaker for sale at the regional meet in Selma this weekend. If this is still wanted, I can check with him to see if he still has it and get you two together.

By the way, the Selma meet was outstanding. Great weather and Studebaker fellowship.

It's not tough to install one of these clocks or a lighter. The real trick is FINDING them! Actually, a lighter should be easy - the clock however....
