  • Electrical: Studebaker Avanti owners with digital camera..........

Attempting to find exactly how the ignition resistor was attached when the car left South Bend.

The shop manual shows it dead center of the coil, but no way this can be with the bracket as it is?

    Pictures would show definitively.

    Tanks:-)

When I had my '64 apart to do valve guide seals a couple months ago I took pix to remember what things went where (and how aggravating they were to disconnect). I think these two pix show what you are after. I can email you higher def pix if you need.

I'm afraid that these are the only two pix I could find that show some detail of the coil bracket. I enhanced and cropped them to show as much detail as I could. I'll try to get a more direct shot later today.

More pix- not sure they will help though. Too much stuff in the way and I'm not real anxious to take it all apart again.

Paul many thanks for the photos.........I think I realize why the resistor in our Avanti sticks out so far towards the front of the car and hense does not sit center of the coil.......the coil bracket is turned 180 degrees in the opposite direction I believe all I have to do is remove the coil from the bracket and turn it around.......then the resistor will sit dead center of the coil.
