Fuel System: What carb do I need? (Champion)

I have a Jeep CJ2A with a Champion 6 in it, and I'm trying (like Sisyphus) to get the thing running. It had a Carter YF off the 4-cylinder Jeep engine originally, and I replaced that with a WE 2417S, which should have been correct for the engine (see this thread: http://forum.studebakerdriversclub.c...mpion-185-carb).

I finally got the Jeep back from the engine mechanic yesterday (long story), and when I went to install the 2417 (purchased NOS from Studebakers West), it won't fit. The mounting studs on my manifold are 4" outside edge to outside edge, and the 2417 mounting holes are a bit over 4.5". Do I have the wrong carb, or the wrong manifold? The casting number on the top of the manifold is 532337-4 (might start with a 6 actually, it's a bit hard to tell).

This vehicle has become a total nightmare, and I would really appreciate any help I can get. Thanks!

Yeah, that's what I though, but there's no arguing with the studs on the manifold. FWIW, I have the body of a BBR-1 2125S carb, which does fit (it's just is missing all the connecting rods and isn't usable at this point). That site says that particular BBR-1 would have been on a 1955 Champion pickup - did the pickups use a different manifold than the cars?

Does your manifold look like this?

My 41 has a WE carb from a 47 or up Champion instead of the WA it is supposed to have. But it fits fine on this manifold. I wonder if the swap in your CJ is from a kit that included a different manifold? If it helps there are more manifold pics here.
