  • Fuel System: R2 Carb Metering Rods and Jet Sizes

After well over a decade, I finally have my R2 motor back together, with the blower installed. It seems to running extremely lean at cruising speed; 40-60mph. When you put you foot into it, it will feel quite lively, but at cruise, it feels like it is starving for fuel.
My question; does anyone know what size jet and metering rod came stock on a R2? What are most people running now? My carb I am sure has been gone through a few times before I got it, so I really don't know what is in there now. What rods and jets are you running on a R2? Finally, what metering rod springs?

    Thanks!

FWIW, recently I bought a box full of NOS Edelbrock metering rods. If you are contemplating metering rod changes on an AFB or Edelbrock carb and can't find what you need locally, PM me with the sizes-P/N you need and I'll see if I have them.

Jeff - thanks for the link, I should have thought to check there in the first place

Jack, once I see what rods are in there now, and what rods I have in my collection, I may be in touch. Heck if you were closer, I would haul the car to you to figue out!
