  • Transmission / Overdrive: Clutch source & reccomendations

I'm gonna install a 4 speed trans behind a 63 V8 with 3.31(not install yet) in a 58 Scotsman 2 door wagon. He bought the 4 speed from Ted Harbitt at the May swap. I'd like suggestions for clutch, pressure plate and TO bearing besides SI. Not gonna be for racing, but the owner has the need for speed.
    Thanks in advance,
    Kim

If you do not mind a few mods to the bell housing and pilot bearing, then CF or most any diaphram clutch will fit the bill. Any clutch type (diaphram, B&B, or Long) that has extra clamping PSI will also have an extra hard clutch pedal. If you think OEM for a 289 is good enough (given your scripted needs, it probably will be), then take the old PP to a local clutch rebuild shop and tell them to rebuild it, and keep the specs at OEM.
