  • Speedo / Tach / Gauges: Tach wiring....?

I picked up a Sun Tach II on ebay for $20. The guy had a video of it working before he pulled it out of some parts 70's muscle donor car. It has 4 wires on it. He said it was just wired direct to power, ground, distributor and IDK what else, light switch maybe?. It is NOT the older style Sun Tach that needs a transformer/transmitter box.

So my question is, it has 4 wires, 1 red, 1 black, 1 green, and 1blue. Which wires connect to what?

I assume green is ground {correct me if wrong} and red would be power, but is that keyed power or headlight switch power? Which one is coil/distributor? Is one a light power and connected to the light switch?

Any help from you folks would be helpful !!!

    Thanks in advance as always.

I have 2 vintage Tachs in use...an old Sun & a Dixco. They both have a red(power),a black(ground)& a green(to neg. on coil)...the Sun has a blue which goes to light switch, the Dixco lights up as soon as there's power.Speaking of power they are both wired to the ignition side of the switch with an in line fuse(5 amp).

There are a boatload of videos on YouTube detailing the installation of this tach.I put one in the Crapparo last month.
