  • Fuel System: Looking for rebuildable Stromburg WW 6-122 carb

Looking for a 2 barrel stromburg WW 6-122 (#on top of air horn housing) for a 58 Golden Hawk - Packard hawk. One that is complete and rebuildable.
The one I have looks like it has been mismatched with another housing and is missing the fast idle cam and no hole where the cam goes into the housing. It still has the fast idle screw but that is worthless without the fast idle cam assembly.

To: kdancy,---- I see what You mean. The center body might be from a truck or something but regardless, the internal jetting wouldn't be correct for use with the blower. Sorry, I don't have a spare.

Kerry: As I PM'd you earlier, here are detail photographs of the 6-122 carburetor & pressure box I've had probably 25-30 years and will likely never use. It has been stored about ten feet off the floor on the top shelf of a rack in a dry garage, so I feel it is an excellent core, which you're seeking...and, as you can see, entirely complete.

I did not know what to ask for the unit, so I PM'd what I consider to be one of the most prolific and fair used parts vendors we have, whose name I'll not mention because he's here in the forum! Anyway, he said the setup should bring a minimum of $200, and that is what I'll take for it without the intake manifold, since it is not "special" and would cost a fortune to ship.

I'll not charge you anything to package it (carburetor, pressure box, all attachments), but I'll ask for an additional $35 for shipping; total: $235 FOB your door, max. (If it costs less than $35 to ship, I'll refund the difference after it's been sent.)

I don't have Paypal, so just send a check for $235 to my address in any Turning Wheels if you want it. (It's a large enough item $$$$-wise that I'd like to wait for the check to clear, so you can send a money order if you'd like it to go out immediately.)

        All pictures taken today (4/17/2012):

Code 6-122 is faint, but is definitely 6-122:

The carburetor probably hasn't had gasoline in it in 30 years, so it of course needs to be rebuilt. However, nothing is seized; the linkages flop back and forth as they should.

If you don't want it and someone else does, it will be available to anyone else under the same terms and conditions (assuming shipping within the United States) after Sunday, April 22, 2012, through the May 2012 Studebaker Indiana Swap Meet, to give you time to decide. It's "yours" until then.

        Let me know. BP

OK, Kerry; I tried to PM you a reply but it said your Inbox is full and cannot accept any more messages.

Anyway, it's yours and I'll await the check. BP

              Thanks!

To: Bob Palma,----Nice to see someone put a price on an item again. Today, everything seems to sell the e-bay way. (I believe that was a fair deal by the way)

Thanks, Ed. The more I play with my grandson and with the promise of more to come (though nothing in the oven that I know of!), the more I realize I can't take all this stuff with me...so I might as well take advantage of an opportunity to move along that which I'm pretty sure I'll never use.

Now here's the funniest thing about this transaction. I had not been up to that high shelf in the garage for at least five years when I got out the big ladder and went up to retrieve that 6-122 carb and manifold. As soon as I pulled that assembly to the edge of the shelf, I looked behind where they had been and lo and behold, there was a complete, SN-60 Paxton supercharger I forgot I had; true!

If someone had posted they were looking for a rebuildable Paxton SN-60 core, I would have bet money I didn't have one! <GGG> BP

To:Bob Palma,---That would be a shocker! Those blowers are kind of in the 'Holy Grail" category, and when someone stumbles onto one He's long forgotten about, well, I'm happy You didn't fall off that ladder!
