  • Edelbrock 600 Carb to Stude linkage/bell-crank

Recently installed Edelbrock 600 on Offenhauser intake on 289 with .elec. fuel pump. What would be the correct hole to use on the carb? The slightly small perfectly positioned one or the large one (slightly forward)where you have to make a bushing?I've been using the small perfectly positioned hole but my kick-down won't work.

The large hole. I got new linkage from JEGS that came with bushings, but prior to that, I just used washers.

Either one will work. I used the small hole, and adjusted the linkage to the trans per shop manual. That was over 120k miles ago.

Either hole will work on a 4-speed, but on a Flightomatic or Powershift you need to use the big hole. I suspect the same is true if you have a 3/OD as well, so that the kickdown works right at full throttle. The center of the big hole is just about the same distance from the primary shaft as the hole on the factory 4-bbl linkage.

          As noted...either...!
Just a little ratio difference is all the difference.

I used the small hole with the same setup as you have. This way...no extra junk is required, just adjust and go.

Your kickdown adjustments are a seperate deal. You need the "right or correct" ratio there. The linkage plate must have a connection at the right location for the correct ratio.

The large hole keeps the same throttle throw. I used a piece of fuel line with washers on either side for a bushing. Takes up all the slack and operates smoothly.

Where did you get your new linkage...JEGS?Do you have an address ? I need a 4BBL linkage rod as the 2BBL one isn't long enough

On my '62 I just used a piece of all-thread and some Heim joints, but if you have an automatic you might want to keep the stock spring-loaded deal. You could use half of a universal kit if it had the same thread.
